Roy deals with environmental issues that impact on the quality of life of people living, working or visiting Peterborough. The core issues are littering, fly tipping, dog fouling, ASB (inappropriate use of alleyways and parks etc) and other issues such as waste management (bins). Roy also undertakes fact finding and sign posting. Roy manages street leader volunteers and arranges community events such as litter picks. He also supports schools with the ECO schools programs. He manages little projects within the community working with residents and councillors to improve small spaces that have become littered and/or fly tipping hot spots. Furthermore Roy carries out patrols to educate, support and on very rare occasions, hands out fixed penalty notices for environmental infringements. His primary objectives are to educate and support the community, helping us to help ourselves.

My role is about being out and about in the community, working with local residents, community groups, Ward Councillors and community organisations with the aim to bring about positive changes to neighbourhoods.
For many residents and community groups I am the first point of call within the Neighbourhood Management South Locality Team that may have an issue which they would like me to be made aware of, this could then involve problem solving local community concerns. Or perhaps people have an idea/project which they may want some guidance with.
My role is then to help provide support to take such ideas forward or make sure the right officers, residents and organisations are involved. I have to ensure that there are sufficient levels of consultation and engagement within a community about concerns or potential projects.
I work in a diverse team at Peterborough City Council made up of Neighbourhood Officers, Housing Enforcement Officers and Pollution Officers.
